Haley R.

My name is Haley T. Ritter, and I am a hard-working, self-employed, nationally certified and state-licensed freelance American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter for the local Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing Community in the Phoenix Metro area.

As someone who experiences daily, uncontrollable epileptic seizure activity, it is not safe or legal for me to drive a motorized vehicle in the state of Arizona. However, despite these incredible neurological challenges, my passion and skill for serving the Deaf Community over the course of the last 17 years has propelled me into a successful, high-demand career.

This has all been made possible with the wonderfully THRIVING local transit service, Valley Metro, and an extremely supportive mayor and city council. I've managed to stay very involved with these wonderful leaders, attending regular public meetings and sharing my ideas and feedback over the course of the last 22 years. As a result, they've VASTLY improved the quality and quantity of available routes for public use.

We simply wouldn't have these crucial services without VITAL federal and state funding (programs and grants) that ALSO provides stable employment, benefits, and dependable transportation for local workers and residents like me.

Thank you SO much for reading my story and understanding how important it is to preserve these incredible efforts!
