The U.S. House of Representatives is currently considering appropriations legislation, H.R. 3055, that includes public transportation funding for fiscal year 2020.
Despite wide, bipartisan, and national support for public transportation, U.S. Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) has introduced Amendment #237, which will cut federal funding for public transit by an estimated $1.2 billion. Virtually every public transportation service, large, small, and commuter, would be affected.
The results would be felt in suburban, rural, and urban communities alike. There would be fewer dollars for new and expanded public transit services—and at a time when the U.S. should be investing more in our mobility infrastructure to increase safety and access and reduce congestion for a growing population.
Please urge your member of Congress to vote NO on the Perry Amendment.
